On the 14th of October there will be an ANNULAR ECLIPSE OF THE SUN throughout Utah and the surrounding states. The path of maximum coverage will be a path from just south of Wendover to the 4 corners area. The amount of coverage of the sun for each city in Utah is given in the website provided.
https://eclipse2024.org/2023eclipse/eclipse_cities/states.php?state=Utah&country=USA
Those of you who are interested in seeing the entire “Ring of Fire” may join us at Cove Fort Utah*.
The total elapsed time from start to finish at Cove Fort will from 9:08 to 11:58 a.m. Totality will be at 10:26 a.m. CERTIFIED EYE PROTECTION IS MANDATORY!
Due to the constraints of time and distance, we will meet at Cove Fort. The restaurants and diners in the area are expecting large crowds so bringing your own breakfast / lunch is advisable. At the Cove Fort exit (I-15 exit 135) is a Chevron and Subway.
Options:
1. Arrive in time to see the first bite out of the sun. 9:08 a.m.
2. Arrive at 10:00 a.m. By this time half the sun will be covered.
At about 11 a.m. enough of the sun will be uncovered and it will be a good time to leave.
*If weather conditions prohibit optimum viewing, a change to the nearest open cite to be determined by the above website and weather.com
