| Description: | Join Don and Cyndi Schmidt on a 4-day, 3-night fun filled cruise. Western Colorado Cruise - Includes two National Parks, Durango to Silverton Train Ride (Roundtrip), “Million Dollar Highway” and a National Monument. September 7 - Day 1 We will meet at Thanksgiving Point by the water tower at 7:30am and travel 29 miles to the Walmart Neighborhood Market in Spanish Fork (898 S 2550 E). There, we will pick up any Southern CCU members to begin the trip. We will depart Walmart at 8:00 am and we will travel 74 miles to Miller's Travel Plaza in Wellington for a quick bathroom break and pick up more members. From there we will travel 107 miles to the Blu Pig in Moab for lunch at the Blu Pig BBQ (811 South Main St). We should arrive by 12:00 pm. We will depart no later than 1:30 pm and travel 53 miles to Monticello for fueling and break. Depart Monticello by 2:30 pm and travel 70 miles to Mesa Verde National Park. Fee is $30 per car or free if you have a National Park Pass. We should arrive by 3:30 pm and can spend the afternoon exploring the ancient dwellings. From Mese Verde National Park we travel 35 miles to Best Western Plus Rio Grande in Durango (400 East 2nd Avenue). We have reserved a block of 15 rooms. (We will be here two nights) This price includes free buffet breakfast, two free happy hour drinks per person (5:30 pm to 7:30 pm), and free parking and WIFI. There are no group reservations for this night. Feel free to venture out and see historic Durango and take in the restaurant of your choice for dinner. September 8 - Day 2 Breakfast buffet begins at 6:30 am. We will meet in the hotel lobby at 7:30 am and the train station is within walking distance. Be ready for quick meeting and ready to walk to train station. Durango to Silverton train ride (roundtrip) departs at 8:15 am. Tickets are selling fast! If you would like to join us on this trip, please book your train tickets now at 970-247-2733! There are both Gondola (open air) $115 and Coach (enclosed) $105 seats available. (we booked seats 31 & 32 on Gondola #2) We arrive Silverton at approximately 12:00 pm for shopping and lunch of your choosing. We depart Silverton at 2:00 pm. We arrive back to the train station at approximately 5:40 pm. There are no group reservations for this night. Feel free to venture out and see historic Durango and take in the restaurant of your choice for dinner. September 9 - Day 3 Breakfast buffet begins at 6:30 am. Driver meeting at 8:15 am in the hotel lobby. We will depart parking lot at 8:30 am and travel 49 miles on Highway 550 North to Silverton. We can stop here for a break if needed, otherwise it is 23 miles on “The Million Dollar Highway” to Ouray. From Ouray, we will continue for 38 miles on Highway 550 North to Montrose and plan to break for lunch at Mi Mexico Restaurant between 11:30 am and 12:00 pm. We will depart Mi Mexico Restaurant at approximately 1:00 pm and travel 3 miles to the Museum of the Mountain West. Self-guided tour cost is $12.50 per person. Depart Museum of the Mountain West by 2:30 pm and travel 11 miles to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. Fee is $30 per car or free if you have a National Park Pass. Depart Black Canyon at approximately 4 pm and travel 70 miles to Best Western Grand River Inn & Suites (3228 I-70 Business Loop, Clifton). We have a room rate of $151.59. You can make reservations by calling 970-434-3400 and let them know you are with the Corvette Club of Utah. We are still looking for a place for dinner. There are numerous chain restaurants near the hotel in case we can’t get something arranged. September 10 - Day 4 Breakfast buffet begins at 6:30 am. Driver meeting at 8:00 am be prepared to depart at 8:15 am. We will travel 20 miles to the east entrance of Colorado National Monument. Fee is $25 per car or free if you have a National Park Pass. We will travel approximately 22 miles with stops at various View Points as space allows. We will stop at the Visitor’s Center for shopping/break time and regroup. After we leave the Colorado National Monument, we will travel 90 miles to the Tamerisk Restaurant in Green River for lunch. Good food and a great view of the Green River while we dine. Then it’s time to head home!!! Please have your car fully fueled each morning prior to departure to avoid unnecessary stops. This event requires participants to signup.
