Description:  The #4 Corvette C8R will be racing at the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in the IMSA GT-Pro Class on Apr 29th to May 1st. If you would like to join me to watch the race, I will be leaving on Wednesday, Apr 27th at 8:00 AM. I will be traveling South on I-15 to the Best Western Desert Inn in Barstow, CA. On Thursday Apr 28th, I will then be going West through Bakersfield, CA to the Coastal Highway (CA-1) via CA-46. I will then go North up the coast (hopefully experiencing a nice coastal sunset) to Carmel by the Sea and taking the Salinas Highway to the Best Western in Salinas, CA where I will be staying from Apr 29th to May 2nd. Hotel prices for the two Best Westerns in Salinas (They are next door to each other on Kern St) are still between $175 and and $280 a night and not $400 a night which is the normal rate for a race weekend.

Friday Apr 29th is time trials, races, and parade laps for some of the car corrals at the raceway. Saturday Apr 30th is the first day of the Corvette Corral, the Corvette Corral Parade Lap, and more time trials and races. Sunday May 1st is the second day of the Corvette Corral, GM Sponsored Speakers, Drivers, Race Program Manager, and finally the IMSA sanctioned Sports Car Championship Race.

This years Corvette Corral is being organized by the WeatherTech Raceway and not WSCC. However, according to the raceway, GM is supposed to be there with the White Tent, Guest Speakers, Box Lunches and hopefully a Z06 to look at. Last year it was the C-8R Special Edition.

You can buy a three day general admission for $90 per person or a two day general general admission for $75. The Corvette Corral will cost you $100 a car. The Corvette Corral is only a two day event so make sure the raceway will let you park in the the Corvette Corral (Green Parking) on Friday before buying a three day general admission ticket. You purchase tickets and the corral pass by calling the raceway ticket office at 1-831-242-8200. I will be at the track all three days but have seating and parking by the Pit Row. I will park at the Corvette Corral on Saturday and maybe Sunday.

I will be heading home on Monday May 2nd by going South on US-101 and then heading back to Barstow, CA via Bakersfield, CA. I will then head North on I-15 to the Best Western in Mesquite, NV. Tuesday May 3rd, I will finish heading North on I-15 arriving in SLC in the early afternoon.

This is Bob Clayton’s personal trip and not a club points event. If you would like to join me or have questions send me an email at robert.clayton@comcast.net. I will set up a pickup place and time adjacent to I-15 for those going with me.
